Dare To Resist

So, it's coming to the end of a second year of creative arts class and definitely not my last, as I plan on spending another year having the amazing Mrs. Kiick showing me new skills. This year I have made a lot of progress with many forms of art especially my portraits. This year I made more progress in the shadowing and detail of the face and I am very happy about it because I love drawing faces because of how diverse every different person features are and how it can be a challenge to draw some peoples faces because of the angles and shapes. I am very happy!!!!

Time capsule
My sneakers looked worn and old when in reality my mother had only bought them for me just weeks before. My mom had always gotten mad at me for ruining my shoes so fast. See, I spend a lot of time in the woods; digging, playing, exploring. So, anyway, I was running around when I notices something that looked like the corner of a box sticking out of the earth. I began to dig around it and slowly began to pull the box free from the dirt. It was blue and dirty and there were holes forming where insects had been eating away at the cardboard. I stuck my finger in one of the holes and started to pull as to make the hole bigger. Soon I had torn off most of the top of the box and began to pull items out. These items were from 2014. From more than ten years before I was born. I brought my findings back to my house. When I showed my mother what I had found she just smiled and shuffled though the items in silence. She read the various notes and held a chunk of yellow fur in her hands.
"Isn't this awesome mom? I wonder who's stuff this is. How old were you in 2014, 18?"
"Yes honey, I was 18 years old when I put these items in this box."

"Oh my god, are you serious!" I exclaimed when he "accidentally" splashed me with his paddle.
The canoe floated glided on the lake like we were floating on air. We started to approach an island and we decided to explore. We paddled our canoe onto the shore and T.J. got out and went to pull the canoe further onto the shore. He stepped out onto the marshy ground and slipped and fell onto the wet moss and soaked his entire back. I screamed laughing at the face he made when he went down. I quickly got out of the canoe and helped him up and brushed him off. We both pulled the canoe up more and we threw the paddles into it. I saw something move in the greenery that was coating the ground and realized it was a tiny frog. I spent 10 minutes hopping around like it was in an attempt to catch it. Finally I cupped my hands and trapped it underneath it. I help it my hand and stared at it and awed at how cute it was and how small it was.

The island appeared to be small and stop at a wall of trees but we walked across a log that crossed and little river running through it and found a little passage through the brush and trees. This brought us to a clearing with a small cluster of trees in the center. There we spotted a family of deer grazing in the shade of the trees. We walked slowly down a hill and into the clearing and got close to the baby deer. it stared at us but didn't run away. The mama deer didn't see us but when it did it ran into some bushes. It was so cute. The wood seemed to go on forever.
After exploring for a little we headed back to the canoe and we paddled back to the beach. It started to rain and the way the rain looked on the water and the way we were feeling was likrs omething you would see in a movie.

Fortune Cookie Book Page
I used my fortune to inspire me in a abstract and broad way. My fortunes were mostly about being vane and pompous and some were about trying to soften that so I did bright and intense colors with a mask on top like clouds and just used light soft colors.
Art x3
I liked this project because if there was something on the piece of art that you liked you could play off of it and if it was something you didn't like you could try to make it less apparent. I hated letting go of my half finished work but it was fun anyway.
Pop Print
For my pop print I chose to use my iPhone as the image for the print. I chose this because it is something that consumes my generation. For this project we had to do a drawing of the item and then rub them on a rubber stamp so that the image transferred. We then trashed the p ensign lines on the stamp with marker. This made it easier to see when we carved the rubber away to make the image stamp-able. We then rolled ink on the finished stamp and and stamped the image over and over and overs and over and over again.

The items that our class collected for this collection of blue items tell a lot about our society. There are very few things on the table and in the collection that we actually need. There was one thing that was for learning and only a few for cleaning and cooking but the majority of the things we just little trinkets. Our society is so materialistic and that definitely shows. This bothers me in a way but at the same time that is the one thing about America that sticks out to me. We have excess. We have excess of everything; clothes, money, cars, food, electronics, and just random stuff that you would find at the dollar store that have no use. I think that that definitely sums up my generation as a whole.
